Saggy eyelids can be quite a problem on the hands of anyone having them, this is because of two major reasons. Firstly, they have a way of making a person look way older than they are in reality and frankly speaking no one wants to look that old. Secondly, it has been revealed that saggy eyelids have a detrimental effect on the eyesight. For these reasons and probably others, hundreds of thousands of people undergo surgical procedures yearly to remove saggy eyelids. Most of them however do not have an idea that they can do away with saggy eyelids via simple remedies from the convenience of their homes.

A strange thing about saggy eyelids is that they could remain for the whole lifetime and sometimes they come and go as they please, except of course if you do something about them. They could be present in both eyelids or just in one, regardless of which, they are not a nice thing to have.

Causes of saggy eyelids

If present in both eyelids, it could be a result of any of the following:

  1. Natural aging.
  2. Variation in eyelids.
  3. Medical conditions.

If present in just one eyelid, it could be a result of:

  1. Injury to the nerves in the area.
  2. Natural aging.
  3. Health complications.
  4. Variation in eyelids.
  5. Eyelid neoplasm.

Remedies for saggy eyelids

  1. Cucumbers. These are just perfect for making the eyelids firm, majorly because of their antioxidant properties. Simply cut two slices of chilled cucumber and place over the eyelids for about 15 minutes. This should do the magic.
  2. Simple homemade lotion with natural extracts. You can make a mix of aloe vera gel, with plain yogurt, freshly sliced cucumbers and oatmeal. Ensure you get a smooth paste, apply over the eyelids and leave for 20 minutes, then wash off.
  3. Ice water. This process is very simple, just wash the face with ice cold water frequently, it will help to tighten the skin and thus eliminate the sagging.
