Remember the old saying “you are what you eat “?  Turns out it could actually be literal. You know what our ancestors believed? They believed that certain vegetables, fruits and other plants would be good for the organs they looked like. They treated their problems as such. This w later known as the Doctrine of Signatures. Weird right? Wrong. Apparently, these guys were not very far from the truth as we see today that certain plants actually do wonders for the parts of the body they look like. All plants are indeed good for the general well being of the body, however some plants tend to look like the part of the body that they supply important nutrients to. You’ll see that carrots actually do look like the eyes and it’s no coincidence that they are infact good for the eyes. There are several other examples of this rather bizarre but undeniable fact. Mother nature does have a sense of humour, doesn’t she? And we thought we were done seeing weird stuff!

Apart from how beneficial these fruits and vegetables are to the body, you will use them to remember what you should eat more often especially when you have a particular problem in a part or area of the body. It’s important to know that these facts are not conjured up or manufactured for fun. They’re tested and proven.

The carrots are said to be good for the eyes, a tale that never dies. Crazy! The carrot contains lots of antioxidants and vitamins which are healthy for the eyes. Beta-carotene is a kind of antioxidant found in the carrot, it is useful in the reduction of macular degeneration which is a major reason for loss of vision in aged people.

Sweet Potatoes and the Pancreas

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas. The wonderful news is that sweet potatoes are good for the pancreas. This benefit is especially important for the diabetic patients as it helps keep the glycemic index balanced. Other cardiovascular functions the tomato is found to efficient in are balancing of the blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, platelet aggregation and homocysteine. You definitely should eat more tomatoes.
