DIY Rose Water Recipes:
There are mainly two processes that you can follow to make rose water at home.

Simmering Method

Here’s what you’ll need :

• Eight roses
• About 1.5 litres of distilled water

Here’s what you should do :

• Take out all the rose petals and wash them gently using lukewarm water.
• Next, place the petals in a large pot and pour distilled water in it.
• Cover the pot and place on low heat to simmer till the petals lose all their colour.
• Strain the liquid and throw the petals away
• Store the liquid in a glass jar. Simple huh?

Distilling Method

Here’s what you’ll need :

• Five cups of rose petals
• Distilled water, enough to cover up the petals
• Ice cubes
• A large pot with a lid
• A clean brick or stone
• A glass bowl that can handle heat (specifically, one with a shallow bottom and wide mouth)
• Glass jars

Here’s what you should do :

• Place the brick or stone in the middle of the pot and keep the glass bowl on it.
• Next, arrange the petals around the stone. Make sure none gets into the bowl.
• Pour the distilled water into the pot, make sure it covers the petals. Also make sure the water is just above the top of the stone.
• Invert the lid and place it on the pot. Then add ice on the inverted lid. (the idea is that the steam collects on the surface of the lid and then funnels down to its center, finally dropping in the bowl.)
• Add more ice when the previous one melts. Keep doing this until the process is over.
• Boil the water and allow it to simmer on low heat for at least twenty to thirty minutes.
• The rose water in the bowl should be stored in a glass jar. It has a shelf life of six months, provided it is stored in a refrigerator.
Be careful while taking the lid off so the ice water does not drip into the bowl.
