Studies have found that coffee is able to keep the body protected from type 2 diabetes. The plasma levels of SHBG(sex hormone-binding globulin) increase as a result of the consumption of coffee. After four years, the participants who had an increase in coffee intake over that period were shown to have a reduced type 2 diabetes risk, The ones whose intake didn’t change had higher risks than the ones whose intake changed.

Researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC)
and Harvard School of Public Health, concluded that drinking
coffee in moderation protects against heart failure . They defined
‘in moderation’ as 2 European cups (equivalent to two 8-ounce
American servings) per day.
People who drank four European cups on a daily basis had an
11% lower risk of heart failure , compared to those who did not.
The authors stressed that their results “did show a possible
benefit, but like with so many other things we consume, it really
depends on how much coffee you drink.”

Lowered risk of Alzheimer’s disease
There is considerable evidence that caffeine may protect against

coffee that may be responsible for preventing the build-up of the
brain plaque believed to cause the disease.

Harmful Effects

Caffeine consumption may raise blood pressure. Especially in
those already suffering from hypertension and those who don’t
normally consume caffeine . People with hypertension were given
250 mg of caffeine (about 2 coffees) and the data revealed that
their blood pressure was elevated for about 2-3 hours after the
caffeine. Src . A second study performed by The Mayo Clinic
found similar results from a 160 mg dose. All participants
experienced a marked rise in blood pressure and it was the most
pronounced in those that didn’t normally consume caffeine. Src.

Caffeine can cause indigestion. People who consume caffeinated
beverages often report an upset stomach or indigestion. This
mainly occurs when the beverages are consumed on an empty
stomach.

Caffeine Addiction
Consuming too much caffeine could result in caffeine overdose,

overstimulate the body, causing headaches,, irritability, lack of

Caffeine present in coffee has the ability to alter both mood and

function, nerve signalling and muscles. This is highly applicable if
you have existing heath conditions like anxiety, heart problems, or
diabetes. Avoiding coffee in such cases would improve your
health conditions.

Pregnancy Risk
Women who drink large amounts of coffee, could increase the
risk of having fertility problems, since caffeine reduces the
muscle activities in the Fallopian tubes, which are responsible for
the process of delivering the eggs from the ovaries to the womb.
According to The British Journal Of Pharmacology, caffeine could
increase complications related to the pregnancy, since it crosses
the placenta and reaches the fetus. Caffeine could linger in the
fetus’ system, building up to high toxic levels, as the fetus has an
immature or developing metabolic system. If the coffee intake
increases from 200-300 milligrams per day, a pregnant woman
may be subjected to miscarriage, or the delivery of an infant with
a low birth wight.

increase in the odds of developing fibrocystic breast disease and
women who drank over 500 mg/day had a 2.3-fold increase in
the odds of developing cysts
