Varicose veins are simply those protuberant veins which are quite chunky and dark in color, mostly purple or bluish. We mostly believe it to be a problem related to the female folk but studies have shown that the male folk have their fair share of this same challenge. As matter of fact a recent study in the United States shows that though about 55% of women in the country suffer from varicose veins, about 40% to 45% of men also have the same issue. Varicose veins is said to be more pronounced in people older than 50 years of age, pregnant women and people with lighter skins.

There are several ways of dealing with varicose veins, ranging from surgeries to the use of home remedies, it is however advised that before making use of prescription drugs or surgeries, one should try out home remedies first. Let us take a look at some of them:

Regular exercise

Partaking in regular exercise helps to ease blood flow and reduce inflammation to its barest minimum. Studies have shown that sitting for long periods, especially in the wrong posture increases the risk of developing varicose veins. It is therefore advised that individuals partake in a well-structured exercise routine as often as possible.

Maintaining healthy body weight

As stated earlier, people on the large side are more prone to developing varicose veins, this is mostly because excess weight puts more stress on the veins and causes inflammation. The bad thing with obese people and varicose veins is that the condition is most times unnoticed due to excess fats, when it is, it can be too late. You will do yourself some good by keeping your weight in check.

Use of essential oils

There are different oils that have been recommended to improve blood circulation and ease inflammation, a major one is cypress oil. Simply rub the oil on the affected area in small quantities and be sure to get great results.

Diets

Anti-inflammatory diets are recommended as they ease blood circulation, heal the varicose vein condition and prevent future occurrences. Check out high fiber diets, antioxidant diets, foods rich in magnesium and a host of others.
