Life can be stressful. Infact, life is stressful as a result of its fast paced nature especially in recent years. You don’t realize how stressed you’ve been through the day until you get tucked in bed with your entire body aching. There’s always so much to do, from work, to keeping up on social media, to checking on friends and family to showing up at hangouts to even house chores. It is for this reason that we need to wind down sometimes and pamper ourselves, or maybe pamper others who need it for the sake of ourselves sanity.

Unfortunately, pampering ourselves can get expensive, especially if we need to purchase skin care products, facials or get massages. The good news though is that we don’t have to spend so much thanks to sugar scrubsNo, don’t worry, not the ones you have to go get at the store – I’m talking about making your own sugar scrubs at home.

Simple DIY Sugar Scrub Recipes 

Peppermint & Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub 
Here’s what you’ll need 
  • 1 cup of Sugar
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 10-15 drops of peppermint oil
  • A container to put your scrub into. Go for glass container preferably.
What to do
  • In a clean and dry bowl, pour one cup of sugar
  • Next, add 1/4 cup of coconut oil to the sugar
  • To the mixture, also add the peppermint oil (10-15 drops)
  • Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon
  • You can then transfer them into the already provided container, preferably glass.
Lemon Sugar Scrub
Here’s what you’ll need 
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil (organic)
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • Some lemon zest.
  • 9 drops of lemon essential oil
What to do 
  • The coconut oil should be liquid. If yours is solid, then you should start by melting it with a little heat.
  • Add the lemon zest and the lemon essential oil to the melted coconut oil.
  • Add the sugar to the oil mixture and continue to mix thoroughly. The consistency should be perfect so start with little cups of the sugar and continue to add more till you get a perfect consistency. Your consistency could however, depend on how coarse you want it to be. If you want a not-so-coarse scrub, you should know to not add a lot of sugar. If however you want a coarse scrub, then of course you would need to add more sugar.

The lemon and coconut oil in the scrub gives off a scent that is amazing, you will smell like heaven. It’s also wonderful in the summer and will leave your skin tender and glowy.

Orange & Coconut Sugar Scrub 

This sugar scrub is especially ideal for winter. It is common for the skin to get dull during winter. Thanks to this sugar scrub, things could change for you and your skin! Plus, you will always get to smell fresh.

Here’s what you’ll need 
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil (virgin)
  • 1 cup of sugar (white)
  • Orange Zest (make sure the orange is washed thoroughly first before extracting the zest )
What to do 
  • Start by mixing up the sugar and the coconut oil
  • Next, add the orange zest and combine well .
  • You can take a small amount and place in the bathroom so you never forget. Then keep the rest in a refrigerator and take from it when it’s needed.
Ginger & Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub 

This sugar scrub possesses a moisturizing property that keeps the skin shiny and soft It also rejuvenates yours skin, especially during winter when everyone’s skin is dull as a result of the dead skin cells on the skin surface. The ginger in the recipe is ideal for skin that is sensitive. Its anti-inflammatory property helps fight skin disorders and irritations. It also energizes the skin and tightens it  leaving it looking younger. Healthy oils like coconut oils helps dissolve dirt on the skin and causes it to be clean and moisturized.

Here’s what you’ll need 
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped ginger. Don’t chop into smooth pieces, a little coarseness is important because – exfoliation.
  • 1/4 cup of almond, jojoba or sunflower oil  (cold-pressed )
  • 1/4 kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 3 drops of essential oil
What to do 
  • Place a small saucepan over low heat. The pan should be clean and dry.
  • Heat the coconut oil and chopped ginger together for ten minutes or until the oil now smells like ginger.
  • Take the heated mixture out of the pan and use a fine mesh to press the liquid out of the heated mixture.
  • Add the cold-pressed oil to the derived liquid oil and stir.
  • Let the mixture sit for a while so as to come to room temperature.
  • Add the sugar and salt and stir until you arrive at a uniform consistency.
  • The essential oils are to add a beautiful scent to the scrub. Include any one of your choice.
  • Put the scrub into a container.
Honey Sugar Scrub 

This sugar scrub is one of the most effective yet simplest scrubs to make  With the simplest kitchen ingredients and steps, you can get a wonderful sugar scrub, and get your skin glowing like a baby’s.

Here’s what you’ll need 
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut or almond oil  You could use baby oil, or even olive oil if you don’t have the others.
  • 1/2 cup of sugar. Brown sugar is most ideal. If you have no brown sugar at home, then white sugar could also work.
What to do 
  • Microwave the honey to get it warm and runny. Don’t let it get too hot.
  • Pour the warm honey into a bowl and add the oil of your choice as long as you know it’s great for the skin.
  • Next ,add the sugar you have chosen to use and combine the mixture thoroughly.
  • You can now step into the shower and try out your new sugar scrub!
